Book #19: "The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen" and Book #20: "Sever"...finished!!

Book #19 "The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen" by Syrie James: "I am not a writer, I admit. But in my experience, I have found that there is never a perfect time or place to do anything. We can always find a reason to put off that which we aspire to do, or fear to do, until tomorrow, next week, next month, next year-until, in the end, we never accomplished anything at all." pg. 127
I have to admit when I first got this book of the clearance shelf at Half-Price-Books I NEVER would have thought that I was going to enjoy it nearly half as much as I did. To tell you the truth it captivated me. I was like being in Jane Austen's head and her life, sure it still had the same writing feel to it as all of Austen's books but at the same time there was something slightly modern to it that really just made it more appealing overall.
It is without a doubt in my mind that I will re-read this book over and over and over and over again for many years to come. By far one of my favorites.
In conclusion with this book may I just say, that if you have any love, no matter how large or small, for Jane Austen's books then this is a must read for you. I can not express how much I loved this book. So enjoy!

Book #20 "Sever" by Lauren Destefano: "I was somebody's daughter once, and then I was somebody's wife. I'm neither of those things now. This sullen boy sitting before me is not my husband, and the girl he's fretting over isn't me, will never be me." pg. 92
So this was the conclusion of the 'Chemical Garden Trilogy' and even to this moment I still can't decide if the main chick, Rhine, ignored the crap out of me or not. She had her moments when I really liked her and then other times when I was just kinda like 'meh'.
The trilogy overall wasn't bad to be honest it really had a 'Hunger Games' kinda feel to it. So if your a fan of those and other 'end-of-the-world' types of books then you probably would really like these.
Personally I found the ending to be lacking something, not sure what but something. Just felt like she just kinda dropped it at a strange point, not that I wanted everyone to be skipping off into the sunset but a little more probably wouldn't have hurt anyone.
Other then that and the other biggest problem would be the lack of some really strong characters, not that the characters were really 'bad' per say it's more just that they lacked something. You follow me? (probably not but oh well)
So that is that, on to the next book. Number 21 is going to be "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" by J.K. Rowling. Partly because I really just need to finish these books and also partly because I'm kinda still in a Halloween mood and for some reason I think Harry Potter when I think of Halloween. No idea why.

That's all for now,
  Michaela Jane
